Plate by Plate 2014 Giveaway
Project by Project (what is Project by Project?) is hosting its 12th annual fundraising tasting event, Plate by Plate, next Saturday August 2nd. Located in mid-city’s Petersen Automotive Museum (Wilshire & Fairfax), the event brings together plenty of heavy hitters in the world of LA food & drink for an all-you-can-eat, all-you-can-drink fest.
Proceeds go to a partner charity each year; this year, the charity is mental health provider Pacific Asian Counseling Services. The food fest is priced at $150 GA & $250 VIP, but I have an opportunity to give away TWO free VIP passes ($500 retail value) to one lucky reader. The exhaustive list of participants is below.
For a taste of what to expect (pun intended), see a couple recaps of the events I attended in previous years: 2011 and 2013.

I entered the @DarinDines giveaway for @PbPLA’s Plate by Plate on 8/2 – http://www.eventbrite.com/e/12th-annual-plate-by-plate-tasting-benefit-tickets-11867065713
All entries will be tallied up at 6pm Monday (7/28); winner will be selected randomly and notified that evening. In the event that the chosen winner cannot attend (or does not confirm within 24 hours), tickets will be re-allocated. Again, it’s two VIP tickets for one winner.
What am I looking forward to most? I always love Bestia so I’ll definitely be looking forward to whatever they’re serving. Faith & Flower, Republique, Superba Food & Bread, Alimento and Union make up a formidable lineup of new restaurants that pique my interest, especially the latter three since I haven’t been. Alcohol-wise I’m always digging 1886’s cocktails as well as Goose Island’s IPA.

Where: Petersen Automotive Museum. 6060 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90036.

Bestia! Because I STILL haven’t tried it…
I’m looking forward to seeing what Republique has. I have been following them on social media and every dish they post looks amazing!
Bestia because VIP sounds real fancy.
I’ve heard nothing but great things about Bestia as well! Reservations are pretty difficult to come by, which is most likely a testament to how good their food is. Others I’m looking forward to are Faith & Flower, b.o.s., and Peking Tavern. As far as drinks go, I’m a sucker for a good cold brew.
My first interest is of course Alimento! I’ve heard great reviews from other foodies and have yet to try. I also want to see Bestia because the time I dined there it didn’t WOW me and I’m hoping that I missed an essential dish that I can try at PbP since they will be showcasing their fan favorites. Third on the list would have to be Del Rey Deli, I’m a bit obsessive over sandwiches!
Voss Water because it will likely be very hot out
The offalphile in me says b.o.s. but I am also very interested in what Bestia and Scratch | Bar are doing just for the VIPs.
well… curious about Saint Martha but I’ve been absolutely dying to try Bestia after all the rave reviews out there. Also, anything with ‘VIP Lounge’ in the name is where I want to be. 🙂
Interested in trying The Church Key! Based on photos of the design alone I would go but its always good to get a nib before committing to the full thing. Most excited to drink what Harlowe has because I’ve been to the space but I want to see if they are going to bring a Manhattan tap or their cocktails in a bottle!
I want to try Faith & Flower
The Church Key! Because I’ve heard great things.
I’ve tried maybe 3 places out of the list so I would look foward to trying the places I haven’t tried before. But would definitely also like to see what Bestia has to offer because I have tried some of their dishes and they were all pretty good. Drinkwise would be Goose Island because I drink mostly Goose when it comes to alcohol.
Bestia because I have seen and read awesome things
The Church Key because I really want to taste their proposal
Goose Island Sofie and Matilda are such a great ladies to drink
I would look forward to the offering by Sally Camacho of The Jonathan Club because she is a pastry badass!
Republique because I’ve eaten there once and thought it was awesome. Can’t wait to try their other dishes
I too would be very interested in what Faith and Flower has to offer – I’ve heard very tasty things and I wouldn’t mind stuffing my face.
Bestia since it’s limited to VIPs and certain they will bring something special to PbP!
It’s a toss up between Bestia and drinking Voss Water.
Bestia, clear choice!
Bistro LQ. Not too many opportunities to try Quenioux’s food, which is always unique.

Really looking forward to Alimento! Sotto is a favorite restaurant of mine and since I live on the westside, I don’t make it out to Silverlake too often.
I’d grab my gals, Matilda and Sofie, at Goose Island and then visit Republique and Superba Food + Bread, both that I’ve been meaning to try!
Superba for the creative and delicious dishes – and of course Bestia, because I’ve still never been there!!
I want to go because I can eat more than Godzilla and my appetite wants to devour all the food provided and drink everything in site while having the time of my life. I might even pick up a few chicks while I’m at it. xD
I would LOVE to win a VIP tix to this event! been reading about for quite some time now…. I am looking forward to trying shortcake… heard their belgium sweet pie is amaze!
Would like to give Peking Tavern a try and what is Fluff Ice? Either way, I’m in.
Very excited to check out what the BIstro LQ has in store for the event, especially if Laurent Quenioux brings out his famous cheese cart.
Personally I am very much looking forward to what Ricardo Zarate and Chef Quenioux of Bistro LQ will create for this event, I also like to see what 1886 The Raymond can create to match the varieties of foods in addition of Gekkeikan Sake and Leffe beers.
I am most looking forward to Bestia. I have heard a lot of good things about their cooking.
Maison Akira. I don’t go to Pasadena too often and heard great things about this place!
I cant wait to see what Bestia has lined up for an event like this. Can’t stop thinking about the meal that I had there.
The Park’s Finest. Dat cornbread doe.
we’ll love to try the new spot in Ktown, St. Martha because its menu looks really promising and we’ll love to see what they come up for this event (oyster and steak tartar would be nice). Plus this would be great way to celebrate our 3 year anniversary!. .
i’ve heard the heart tartar at bestia is insane – i’ve never eaten heart before but i want to try it so bad!
I would love to try Scratch | Bar. I’ve heard that their unique concept is to make everything in-house from scratch.
I too would love to try Bestia–but mostly for their moscow mules! :-p
Who won?
