It’s been almost four years since I’ve been to David LeFevre’s seafood-focused restaurant in Manhattan Beach (he has steakhouse Arthur J and MB Post as well). We came in for a weekend lunch during DineLA Restaurant Week and ordered one meal off of that pre-fixed menu ($25 for 3 courses was a steal) and one meal a la carte.

Raw Bar Platter oysters, scallops, shrimp

Gumbo shrimp, chicken, linguica, jasmine rice, hot sauce

Grilled Shrimp Tacos guacamole, salsa verde, chicharrones

24th St Pale Ale Battered Cod fwd fries, dill pickle remoulade

Pretzel and Chocolate Bread Pudding salted caramel, mascarpone ice cream

This was a really strong meal – everything was pretty good. The seafood platter showed off the clean, sweet flavors of the restaurant’s shellfish while the gumbo was hearty and flavorful. Shrimp tacos were nicely balanced, full of vibrant flavors and topped off with crunchy chicharron.  Fish and chips provided some great pieces of fish and hot crispy fries. And the pretzel and chocolate bread pudding was phenomenal – warm, crispy and oozing of salted caramel and melting mascarpone ice cream. Delicious. I’ll be back.
