RH Restaurant (Corte Madera, CA)

While in Marin County one evening last week, I was spontaneously looking for a restaurant to go to that would have good food and a good vibe. Enter RH Restaurant, which opened in October of last year. The RH restaurants are an extension of the home furnishings company (formerly Restoration Hardware) that is based here in Corte Madera. There’s a dozen of these across the U.S. and Toronto.
The restaurant is located on the rooftop of the furniture store, partially indoor and partially outdoor. As one would expect, the ambiance was elegant highlighted by chandeliers dangling throughout the space. Indoor landscaping and even a fountain heightened the look & feel.
CRISPY ARTICHOKES Potato, Rosemary, Aioli, Lemon
LOBSTER ROLL Drawn Butter, Mayonnaise, Old Bay
ROASTED HALF CHICKEN Garlic Confit, Potato Purée, Natural Jus
TRUFFLED FRIES Black Truffles, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Parsley, Truffle Aioli
The food at RH was fine – make no mistake, the ambiance is definitely the more memorable draw here. The half chicken was probably the most enjoyable dish thanks to its flavorful jus. The potato puree lacked richness and creaminess, however, and the breast meat was slightly dry. The highlight of the appetizer were flat discs of fried potatoes, sort of like thick cut potato chips, but the artichokes themselves were so thin they didn’t stand up well to the fryer. The fries were nice, but I’d stick to the regular version as the truffle essence was subtle and didn’t justify the $18 price tag.
RH restaurant’s decor is so nice I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m back here for a special occasion, but I’m not in a hurry.
